Main quality requirements for veneer, according to European standard – SR EN 635-2
–
1. B (II) quality veneer
Uniformly colored surface, no visible joints with minor repairs, fine executed with up to 4 well-repaired stoppers. No cracks, peel clogged or healthy knots. Execution with a maximum of 4 veneer stripes combined properly, assorted as texture.
2. C (III) quality veneer
Surfaces with a maximum of 20% different coloration, executed from a maximum of 8 veneer strips and with up to 8 stoppers on the surface, admitted within the standard, minor defects in veneer overlays, open joints or cracks, without affecting the overall appearance of the veneer.
3. D (IV) quality veneer
The combined surface of several strips that may differ in structure and coloration, with healthy knots having well executed repairs with an unspecified number of stoppers. Cracks, veneer overlays are allowed, clogged bark and other defects that do not influence the overall resistance of the plate.
